It’s that time of year Appraisal Buzz Subscribers! Are you ready for your free copy of the 2015 AMC Directory? The new directory recently became active on the Buzz site, and it’s better than ever.

Our AMC Directory features some new faces this year. Whereas last year we had a total number of 450 companies, this year that number has risen to 486. Each and every year we are gaining more information from AMCs. Our dossier is easy to sift through and listed carefully in alphabetical order. Though there are still some AMCs who either do not have a website or choose not to list their email, much of what was missing in last years AMC directory has been updated.

Similar to last year, a few companies are featured with a little more information. Should you be interested in getting to know the company’s higher ups or in joining their panel, all the information you’d need is at your fingertips.

Once you receive your copy of the directory, make sure you’re doing all you can to choose the right AMC to work with. For a detailed guideline on working with AMCs, you can check out Allterra Online’s new webinar, How to Successfully Do Business with AMCs.   In the meantime here are some quick tips. Attain an AMC’s web address and peruse their site. Is it updated? Does it look professional? Do they even have one? Be sure to ask them how long they’ve been in business and find out more information about their current and past clients.

What are you waiting for? Your free copy of the 2015 Fall AMC Directory awaits.

Hear is a short list of questions that every appraiser should ask before every filling out an application to an AMC. How much do you pay? If the answer is less than what you charge, run away. What is the typical scope of work? If it is beyond a USPAP compliant report, hang up the phone. When will I get paid? If its more than 2 days out, don’t extend them credit. Will your area of expertise be predetermined by way of some set distance from your office? Don’t let them tell you where you can work. Do they have some scoring matrix where they track your so called performance while not having the expertise or license to do a true appraiser review of your work? Say no. Please Appraisal Buzz, go through the 486 listed AMC’s on your list and only provide those that meet these starting standards. After this vetting process, we will interview the AMC to see if we want them to work FOR USE.
