Plus, check out this exclusive interview, in which Appraisal Buzz talked with webinar presenter Gareth Borcherds, Managing Director of Ascent Software Group.

Appraisal Buzz: What is your background in the industry?

Gareth Borcherds: I have been building tech or working in the appraisal industry for a little over 12 years. In building appraisal technology, I have learned a lot about what it’s like to be an appraiser and how important it is for appraisers to continue to use technology to be more effective and make more money per hour while they are doing their work.

Appraisal Buzz: Why is technology’s impact on the appraisal industry such an important topic today?

Gareth Borcherds: The two important parts of technology being utilized in the appraisal industry come down to a faster, better and higher quality report than we have today. So, we have to make sure we talk about what appraisers need to take on more capacity. That means completing reports a little bit faster and at the same time, and appraisers’ quality needs to stay the same or even increase. Technology can help do that.

Appraisal Buzz: What are the most common misconceptions on this concept?

Gareth Borcherds: The most common misconception is that technology is going to replace appraisers. In reality, technology is there to make appraisers more efficient and help them make more money. They can do that through completing more assignments and focusing on the value-added tasks they do rather than the other tasks they don’t have to do because technology is enabling them to do that.

Appraisal Buzz: Why should appraisers attend this webinar?

Gareth Borcherds: Appraisers should attend this webinar to get valuable information on how staff firms have been implementing technology to help appraisers become more efficient and make more money in the process of doing this. They’ll learn how these staff firms have used technology to scale and grow their own business. They’ll come from this webinar understanding how they can actually adopt technology to make their lives a little bit better.
