Barbecues, Beers, and Fireworks

Independence Day brings to mind barbecues, fireworks, parades, and baseball games. The sound of the national anthem roaring through a stadium, “O! Say does that Star-Spangled Banner yet wave.” What started as a poem about the bombardment of Fort McHenry in the Baltimore Harbor arose the national anthem of the United States of America. Being native to Maryland it is easy to get drawn in by all the historical aspects that helped build where we are today. This year the premiere appraisal conference for Valuation Professionals is quickly approaching July 11-13th and will be held in Baltimore, Maryland. If you plan on attending Valuation Expo in Baltimore, be sure to visit a few of the local spots that earned Baltimore the nickname “Charm City.”

Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine
See the Garrison “On Duty” dressed in uniforms of the soldiers, sailors and civilians who defended the fort in 1814. Every day you can help hoist the flag, or be a member of the cannon crew. Being the birthplace of our national anthem, it offers an interactive view to the past.

The Fell’s Point Haunted PubWalk
Visit some of Fell’s Point’s most haunted pubs and tour this historic maritime neighborhood. Fell’s Point is accessible by foot or water taxi and well worth a visit. Tickets tend to sell out early so plan ahead if you are interested.

Maryland Science Center
This month the Science Center is kicking off a seasonal celebration with a 40th birthday party featuring music, science, hands-on activities and an admission rollback to 1976 pricing. Check out 40 of the center’s best live science demonstrations from years past.

An array of restaurants, bars, and boutiques
Most of all of Baltimore’s neighborhoods are lined with great restaurants and bars to pop in and share a friendly conversation. Nightlife can range from comedy clubs to live music venues including Rams Head Live.

Baltimore’s history and attractions have allowed the city to become a strong tourist destination on the East Coast.
